“HEART OF HOUSTON” AWARDS EVENT
Fifth Ward Enrichment Program, Inc.

2008

Dear Friends and Supporters:

The Fifth Ward Enrichment Program hosted its 10th Annual “Heart of Houston” luncheon on Friday, June 6, 2008, at the Junior League of Houston, 1811 Briar Oaks Lane from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This year’s honoree was D’Artagnan Bebel, Vice President and General Manager, Fox 26 KRIV-TV, MY 20 KTXH-TV and MyFoxHouston.com. The “Heart of Houston” luncheon is our major fundraising event supporting programs that serve at-risk young males in Houston’s Fifth Ward community. For more than 24 years, the Fifth Ward Enrichment Program has provided services and programs designed to empower boys to become responsible men, and productive members of their families and community. Our model program has served over 2,300 disadvantaged and at-risk families, 3,800 school-aged youths, and 275 young fathers in more than 20 support services through six program components.

Mr. Bebel is a proud graduate of Howard University in Washington, DC where he received a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude in Broadcast Management. He went on to attend Columbia University Graduate School of Business in his hometown of New York City where he received a Masters of Business Administration, Magna Cum Laude in Marketing. In September of 2000, Mr. Bebel was bestowed with the Howard University School of Communications Alumnus of The Year Award and has his picture on permanent display in the school. Mr. Bebel is the recipient of numerous awards including: several Certificates of U.S. Congressional Recognition for Community Service, NAACP-Drum Major For Justice Award, City Of Houston Proclamation-“D’Artagnan Bebel Day,” Alpha Kappa Alpha-Celebration of Soaring Achievement Award.

He was recognized by American Women In Radio & TV as the Houston market’s “Best TV Station Manager” in 2007. The Fifth Ward Enrichment Program honored Mr. Bebel for his abiding support of the Houston community and the many nonprofit organizations that provide critical social services to our citizens. He continues to donate monetarily and through in-kind broadcasting time to connect nonprofit organizations to their constituents. Thank you for joining us in honoring D’Art and Fox 26/My 20 while supporting the Fifth Ward Enrichment Program. More details regarding our program are as follow:

Sincerely,
